WHAT DO WE BELIEVE?
APOSTOLIC DOCTRINE AND FELLOWSHIP ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE
The Bethel Born Again Church of Jesus Christ, Apostolic accepts as its Creed, Discipline, Rules of Order, and Doctrine, the Bible and true Word of God as taught and revealed by the Holy Ghost, John 14:26; I Corinthians 2:9-13.
We believe the Bible to be inspired of God, the infallible Word of God. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." II Timothy 3:16-17.
The Bible is the only God-given authority which man possesses; therefore all doctrine, faith, hope and all instructions for the church must be based upon and harmonise with, the Bible. We stand for all scripture, rightly divided. The Fundamental Doctrine of Bethel Born Again Church shall be the Bible’s standard of full salvation, which is repentance, baptism in water by immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial sign of speaking with other tongues as the spirit gives utterance.
THE UNITY OF THE DIVINE BEING
"God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth." John 4:24
There is but one God, in Essence and in Person, eternal, infinite in power, Holy in nature, attribute and power; and possessing absolute indivisible deity. He is the self-existent, omnipresent and omnipotent One. This one true God revealed himself as Father in creation, as Son in redemption and as the Holy Ghost in resurrection. (1 Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:6; 2 Corinthians 5:19; Joel 2:28) As the Son, God becomes the perfect man' the pattern for all mankind. As the Son He redeems man from sin, coming into the world and assuming personality through the miracle and mystery of the Virgin birth. "In His own body He bore our sins," and wrought redemption, through His death and resurrection for all mankind. "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”
As Holy Ghost, God is Regenerator and Perfecter of those who believe. The Organizer, Baptizer and Sustainer of the church. The divine Executor of the Word. God as Father is Creator and first cause of all existence; as Son, He is the Redeemer in time, and as the Holy Spirit He is Regenerator, The Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.
"And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life." I John 5:20.
Thus we believe that Jesus was both human and divine; God manifest in the flesh according to I Timothy 3:16, the Eternal Father made visible, Colossians 1:15, besides whom there is no other God. We believe that, "... in Him (Jesus) dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily." (Colossians 2:9) "For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell." (Colossians 1:19)
GOD'S STANDARD OF SALVATION
We believe in and earnestly contend for God's Standard of Salvation and lifestyle. The Word of God reveals nothing short of a consecrated Holy Spirit filled life with signs following as on the day of Pentecost as His will for His people. (See Mark 16:16-17; Acts 2:4; 8:14-17; 9:17-18; 10:44-48; 19:1-6; Romans 12:1-2; Hebrews 12:14; Matthew 5:48; I Peter 1:15)
Those admitted to membership must subscribe to God's standard of salvation in full accord with the teaching of the same as set forth in the Bible,
All members shall take as their rule of conduct the Word of God and shall conform outwardly and inwardly in their daily walk and conversation to its teachings. (Galatians 6:16)
God's word commands that we not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers and that we should not have communion or fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, such as social clubs, etc. (II Corinthians 6:14; Ephesians 5:11); that we should not conform to this world or the spirit of the age (Romans 12:2); that we come out from among them, be separate and turn away from those who have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof, (II Corinthians 6:16; II Timothy 3:5); that we should cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God (II Corinthians 7:1). Thus we should refrain from the use, growth, or sale of tobacco in any form, and the use of "dope", or intoxicants. We should not use filthy speech, indulge in foolish talking or jesting, and so abstain from all appearances of evil (I Thessalonians 5:22). As members of the church and of His Body, we should not become involved in activities, which do not deepen our own spirituality and promote God's glory.
