BETHEL BORN AGAIN EARLY CHILDHOOD INSTITUTION
About the School
The Bethel Born Again Early Childhood Institution was founded by Bishop Luther Martin Allison and represents a dream to impact on successive generations and provide easy and affordable access to education. Having been a teacher in his native village of Mocho, Clarendon, Bishop Allison knew the value of education and believed that the opportunity to nurture young minds was an eminent one, providing the satisfaction of knowing that a life has been touched and the first step along the path to knowledge has been taken. Initially, teaching was limited by simply reading, writing and arithmetic but the school grew and prospered enormously.
The growth of the school since then has been meteoric. Though still utilising space at the rear of the church, the entire character and structure of the school changed dramatically over its existence. Enrollment multiplied over the years and has led to the division of the school into three classes and three teachers.
Throughout these changes, several things have remained constant about the Born Again school:
-
The school has consistently produced the highest calibre students for entry into the primary schools. As a feeder school to Rousseau Primary and others in the neighbouring communities, the administration has been able to track the progress of their graduates and the results have been spectacular.
-
The school has denied no student the opportunity to receive an education even in some cases where the school fees have not been forthcoming. Indeed, there are cases where students have been matriculated through the basic school system despite their inability to pay. This is testament to Bishop Allison's desire to provide each child with the opportunity to learn at any cost. The school remains the Premier institution for early childhood training in the community
-
The school is heavily sponsored and supported by the Church.
-
With the solid base provided by the church and Bishop Allison and bolstered by the school’s heritage, this early childhood institution is now truly ‘striving for better’, confident that better is on before and hasten turning to meet the new challenges that must be surmounted.
